One person. No investors. No interest in your data.

My name is Eshaan. I'm a blind jazz musician — but that's only one part of it. I'm also a bandleader, a podcast host, a video essayist, a music teacher, and the person managing all of it. Clients, bookings, sessions, content, releases, invoices. Just like you, I'm running my own thing and wearing every hat that comes with it.

I was paying $12/month for Dropbox, $5/month for Fantastical, $8/month for Todoist — and still didn't have tools that actually worked together. Or worked for me.

I tried everything. Notion, Google Workspace, Asana, whatever showed up on a 'best productivity apps' list that year. None of them got it. They were all built by people who think about work differently than people like us — people who create things, deliver things, and manage the business of creating and delivering things, all at the same time.

At first I just stitched together a bunch of open-source tools on my private network. I've always believed in open source and local-first software — the idea that your tools should run on your machine, work without an internet connection, and never hold your data hostage. Over time, that setup turned into a question: what if all of this could live in one coherent system?

So I built the tool I wish I didn't have to build.

Facets runs on your machine. Your data stays yours — not training material for someone else's AI, not leverage for someone else's business model. When you sync, everything is end-to-end encrypted. When you don't, nothing leaves your device.

The more our work moves into the cloud, the less of it belongs to us. Facets is how I want that to change.

I'm not a big company. If you reach out, you'll hear back.

For Version 1, I'm committing to a core set of features that actually matter:

  • End-to-end encryption — the server never sees or stores your data
  • Real-time collaborative sync — work with your team without thinking about it
  • Natural language calendar, tasks, and reminders — just type what you mean, the system figures out where it belongs (and no, it's not sent to AI services)
  • Project file management
  • A collaborative rich text editor — links, media, files, text, all in one place

Modules in V1

  • Calendar
  • Tasks
  • Reminders
  • Tables
  • Kanban Boards
  • Files

Under the hood, it's local-first — which means it works offline, never loses your work, and syncs cleanly when you're back online.

These dates are best-effort. This is a one-person build, so things may move — but the priority is simple: build what actually matters, and build it well.

These are features I'm considering. Upvote the ones that matter to you — it helps me decide what to build next.
